Abstract: The research aimed at longitudinally evaluate the attachment Internal working Models of adolescents hosted in residential foster care, as they have familiar as well as behavioral troubles , in the hypothesis that previous disrupted relationships would lead to disorganized and insecure attachment patterns. The aim was to analyze if the preferential relationship with a mentor having secure attachment IWM can improve the adolescents state of mind. The results only partially confirmed this hypothesis. Even if the adolescents’ attachment representations showed an improved coherence during the narrative task (using the Adult Attachment Interview), they continued nevertheless to maintain devaluing and disengaged behaviors in the daily relationships with mentors.
